Hey...

I'm using a 2500 with latest Akai OS

I'm recording midi tracks that are triggering my motif ES (in multi mode - so i can use 16 sounds at once)...

when recording midi onto track 1 (track type: MIDI with the correct midi output so i hear the sound i want) and then play back the recording, the first few notes on midi channel one are always muted (not played back) - even though they show up in the grid and step sequence...

Any idea as to why???

when i record midi on tracks 2, 3, 4 etc with notes starting on the first beat of the bar they are played back fine.

Also - i've noticed that the 'solo' function doesnt work with midi - i'll try to solo one midi track but it still plays all my midi tracks (the ones that are on different midi channels)

Please help cuz its annoying me!!! is this an Akai 0S bug?!

Thanks,

DJF

...this sounds like some problem i had a while ago - midi tracks not muting correctly. to my knowledge it is related to either the settings for oneshotsamples (immediate/through) in the global page or it was because the setting regarding the sustain pedal in the other page. can´t remember, but if you search the forums you´ll find it.
i´m still hoping for an akai os that at least allows us to use all functions of our machines independently from other functions, thou it would be nice if they showed that they still can do it by dropping an update that makes the mpc even better.
for your track 1 motif problem i have no answer but a few questions:
how have you synced the two? which is the master? is there more hardware or a daw involved?

thanks for your help.

as for the motif, its the RACK ES - so there's no sequencer/syncing...its triggered by midi from the MPC sequencer. no other hardware involved at the moment...midi keys into MPC, MPC to Motif Rack ES...

here's an update - im pretty sure it has something to do with program change (selected the patch on the motif via the MPC)...when i disable 'PGM' to 'off' i no longer get the delay...the downfall being i cant use the 'pgm' to select different sounds on the motif....

yes i think i had that problem also, but as the numbers only go up to 127 i usually select patches by hand because my synth (old korg m1) has 200 programs.
ok try this: move the cursor to either the type or the pgm field and the press the window key. in this window you can set the msb/lsb numbers. try if using these is helping.
maybe there is some sort of midi delay occuring if we use the pgm no. when you start the sequence the midi for the programs is interfering with the orders to play the sequence. maybe add a blank bar before the sequence so all program changes and other midi orders are done when the real playback begins?
if all this is not helping i suggest writing an email to akai so they get aware of bugs that are still in their os and maybe release another update.
