Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Bobby Walla11 Sun Apr 22, 2007 7:18 pm
I have recently installed the 8 output board in my 2k classic and i am having some problems with it.

All the odd number outputs have some horrible digital distortion on them, this happens about 75% of the time, and 25% of the time they work normally. I have tried making sure the output board is plugged in properly and made sure the connections are clean.

Do u think I have just got a faulty output board? The weird thing is that it works some of the time, I'm not sure what is happening with it.

This has been covered shit load of times...

You are probably using a mutec 8 out board, one that isn't compatible with the mpc2000/mpc2000xl but only compatible with the s2000. Some of these boards state s2000/mpc2000 but thats just plain old bollocks :)

so outs 1, 3, 5, etc all are distorting? and 2, 4, 6, etc are all fine?

how are your levels on your mixer? not too high? maybe you gotta mess with something in the mixer screen on the mpc? if you assign a pad to an indiv. out, make sure you set the MAIN volume to zero so it only plays in the assigned out and not the MAIN OUTS. because it can seem really loud if they're playing from the main and the indiv outs at the same time...

Thanks for the replies. Yep its a mutec board, so basically the job is **** then? the guy i bought it from seemed adamant it was compatible, saying he had used lots of these boards on mpcs in the past. Is my best option just to try and get a refund?

yeah i have tried putting the mpc mixer to -16 -32 +12- you name it, and have always turned the stereo outputs down when i assigned them to the indiv outs. the level of distortion never changes just the level of the sample gets quieter or louder with exactly the same amount of distortion/noise. yea its only on the 1,3,5,7 outs. The levels on my outboard mixer are never above 0db.

looking through the instructions that came with the board it only has instructions for installing into an mpc 2000/xl and has no mention of the s2000 the s2000 boards are a different size too arent they?

Bumping an old thread as i seem to have the same problem, i can get sound fine out of outputs 1,3,5,7, but 2,4,6,8 have no sound- just random horrible crackle and pops. I'm testing it with a simple mono snare.

I don't think i have a s2000/mutec output card as my MPC2000xl is 'Studio Plus' (came with everything factory fitted - eb16,smpte,8outs). Unless the guy i bought it off ebay from changed the outs for one that doesn't work...

Any ideas?

I've got the Mutec board in my 2k. Works fine.
