Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I'm still debating on whether I should give in or not. This is a tough decision! I'm also wondering If I can get something that will make transferring files from PC to the 2xl a breeze. If I can get something that's relatively inexpensive to transfer files I just might go ahead and make the plunge!

I want a more stand alone unit but I still need the PC connectivity.

I currently have the 1000.

I got an internal 100 on mine and then an external 100 hooked up to the computer. Love it

mpc editor is a godsend!

With zip disks it is unstopable.

How do zips compare to compact flash? Is it quick and easy with loading and unloading? Right now I'm finding Compact Flash extremely convenient.

The difference is minimal imo.

My camera's Smart media card is starting to show wear on the gold contacts. Mind you this card isn't remoced often, since it links to the computer through usb.

Yeah zip disk are really convenient.save fast-load fast, im happy with my setup.

External zip on the mp, internal on the PC.

Plus, almost everybody with an mpc2k/2kxl has zip these days so taking your beats to other placs aint a problem, and if they have a 4000, i believe you can hook up the zip drive to it(thats why i think the external drive is the better solution).

Plus the zips are bigger and not really and not really a standard for PCs and make you look like a real mackin pro when you switchin disks.

zips are best for transferring files from a pc to a mpc2000/xl, but I just got an external scsi hard drive on mine and it loads and saves super fast, a cost effective way to back up. Prah, if you need cheap zips, you can get them on ebay for pretty cheap... a guy sold a lot of 5 250's for like 16 dollars and I was at work and I missed the end of that one...
