Where do you get some really good Hip-Hop beats, snares, and samples from? Or do you just make them up and them lead them into your machine?

Yesterday I took my Mini disc recorder + microphone out on a walk through a trial in my City. I recorded all sorts of sounds like rocks hitting mud, splashes, feet grinding sand you get the idea.

I then cut them up and have done a test run in the MPC.

:D

seriously man, there is no set place to get samples from!

if your after drum kits, then try MPC Samples .com i think or sample Craze!!! or even find some real breakbeats of of some old records!!
but MPC samples got mad kits, specialy chunky snares and mutha drums!

as far as instruments and FX etc go!!! be original man!!! theres no set place to get them from, just look through some old funk or blues records or some classical stuff or whatever, rock folk!!!! POP!!!!!!!! f*ck me yeah! IF YOUR SAMPLING! or play ya own thing with keyboards etc, hell!! download some MP3's!! and then get cutting!!! in something like SOundforge or Cool edit!!

but remember, be original, !!!!!! do your own thing, and whatever you do, dont go buying loop or 'hip hop sound /loop sample packs'!!!! thats like 1 million and 1 whack producers together!!!!!

in the words of the almighty RZA 'ultimate break beats and shit like that right?, n*ggas still looping that shit for a 1000 years n shit right'!!!!!!!!!???

BE ORIGINAL!

deity13 - you should check out Matmos' "A Chance To Cut Is A Chance To Cure". The entire album is made from samples of plastic surgery. quite unnerving but really cool...

Just found out that the MPC doesn't come with any sounds. Guess that makes it good that I'm waiting for 4 weeks for my 1K to arrive. I don't like using drum loops with my hardware but I do want to be able to bang out my own patterns. Is this what is meant by the phrase "drumkit?"

This cat in the store told me that MPCs don't come with sounds and you have to download them off your computer or buy flash cards. He tried to sell me either a keyboard or synth module to make melodies. Kinda knew he was b$@#%$#@-ing. Like I said, I don't have mine yet and I'm trying to find out everything before it arrives.

start buying records so that when it comes you ready to roll... also download the free akai kits on the computer cause usually the stock sounds that come with it are not usually that good anyways...
