Creating new folder - slow as hell

Does anyone have any problem with creating new folders on the HD? If I try to "save entire memory" in the same folder more than once, the whole thing gets ##** so I'm working around that by creating a new one for every time I save something. Only now, the whole mpc freezes or at least gets damn slow when I'm creating a new folder, when for months it has created a new folder in a second. The loading and saving other than this is working fine as usual.

I'm guessing this is a HD-problem?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Seems the folder might have had too many sub-folders. I created a new one and it's like new again. Can't delete the old ones though, the sampler goes nuts.

the akai os 2.01 doesn't offer the "new folder" or "saving" features. it's rugged like that.
