First, when in "program/sounds" menu hit nr.1: sel pgm, asn snds. This is where you assign sounds. You propably know that allready. To mute a sound with another pad, the pad needs to have a sound assigned to it. Assign the sound you want to mute the other sound with to that pad. If you want to mute the pad entirely, you can assign any sound you want to and turn the volume of that sample off in the mixer menu.

When in "program/sounds" menu hit nr.2: Envel, veloc, tune. Thats where you adjust different settings for the sample. You have propably allready been here. In the lower right corner of this window its two lines that says Cutoff: --/OFF. Hit the pad with the sample that you want to mute and remember the note number of that pad. Hit the pad you want to cut off the sample, and type in the note number of the pad with the sample with the numbers and press enter. You can also use the jogwheel to browse through all the pad notes until you find the pad you would like to mute, but its faster to dial in the pads numer, and that way you save the data entry wheel

The window should be like this: in the right upper corner it should say:

Note: the numer of your mute-pad, ex: PGM: 1 Note: 36/A02

and in one of the fields in the lower right corner it shoud be like this:

Cutoff: 37/A01 (the note number with the sample you want to cut off).

It's all in the manual, red it while you play with your MPC and you will learn how to do a lot of stuff.
