Transfering from 4000-2500

sorry if this has been covered but
when i try to load a file that i have saved on disc form the 4000 onto the 2500, i get a "wrong file!" message and it does not load the sequence.
am i saving the data wrong originally? and if so, how do i get the complete sequences and samples tranfered?

Doesn't the 4000 have a CF slot and a USB port? Why can't you use either of these methods??

so if i hook the 4000 directly to the 2500 through the USM, i will be able to tranfer my beats?
can i pick and choose what i transfer or do they all just get put into the 2500?

To be honest with you I don't know much about the 4000. If you have a 4000 then the best place to find your answer is in the 4000 forums.

You must not be saving something correctly b/c based on the info below it can load from the mpc4000(see below for info that applies).

MPC1000: SEQ, WAV, PGM, ALL
MPC2000/2000XL: SEQ, WAV, SND, PGM (Most parameters of a PGM file can be loaded.)
MPC4000: SEQ, WAV, PGM (DRUM program only. Only note assign and tune are loaded.)
MPC3000: SND (THRU Computer)
Z4/Z8: WAV only
S5000/6000: WAV only (THRU Computer)

yea, i understand that it supposed to load the files but when i go to load them, the MPC instantly resets or i get an "error: wrong file" message.
it seems to be loading the samples fine, but no sequence is loading.
the "error" message and the shut down occurs when i try to load the entire file at once.

so yea, am i the only one with this problem?
now, my 2500 is freezing when i try to load the files.

Forget it... they say its compatiable but its not (unless you saved your seqs as MIDI files but I never got anything to work seq's, prgm's & some samples. Soo I hope you tracked everything

darnnn...I'm looking to a track created on the 2500 and load a pnto a 4000.

I learned the hard way that AKAI is very loose with how they define "compatible". I would calll Akai's customer support before you waste too much time and effort.

Have you looked at Chicken Systems Translator and Bluebox. I'm sure that between these two applications you can convert back n forth between quite a few different formats.

are you sure you're not trying to load a 24BIT sample?

The 2500 will only read 16BIT.

Unfortunately the songs or sequences created on the MPC 2500 would not load onto the MPC 4000. However a .mid file created on a 2500 would be loadable in the 4000. As for any updates, these are done in the ‘bat cave’ so tech support is not aware of any developments until they are suddenly posted to the website. I keep an eye on the website as things can quickly change.

So in other words, you have to load the sounds, then load the midi sequence, then RE-assign the sounds to the right tracks.

sucks.... I'll just be sure to bring the 2500 with me.

Try this...put the programs and the sequences in a folder first. Instead of trying to load the sequence file and the program separately, press LOAD on the entire folder that contains the sequence and the program/samples.
