sample cd wont load on my comp...

nothing comes up at all my cd drive is also a dvd drive is this the problem

that,s right, windows or what ever don,t read akai format cd,s

use a program like "cd extract" to extract all waves to your pc, "cd extract" is a program that runs in windows (maybe on mac too ) that does let you read the akai sample discs.

you can even choose the program format for other samplers with it if you wan,t.

this is the program to read akai disks, and save them to other formats on the pc

i installed it...still dont work? if anyone has a "copy" of this cd since mine dont work ill pay u for it i can prove to u that i have this cd if needed...

Does it state on the CD which Akai format it is ? S1000 ? S3000 ? S5/6000 ? Z Series ?

If it's S1000/S3000 then no PC or Mac drive will read them natively as they are in a proprietary format. The only ways to read these discs is to either a) put them in a CD drive that is connected to an Akai sampler direct (S or Z Series) or use a sampler converter program like CDXtract, Extreme Sample Converter or Chicken Systems Translator. Some soft samplers include a version of Translator or use it's code to read these discs.

If the discs are in S5/6000/Z Series format then these can be read in any PC or Mac as they use the FAT system. All samples will be in WAV format and the programs and multis will be in .AKP & .AKM formats.

If you cannot read the CD using any of these methods, chances are your CD is faulty.

Most original sample CD's usually state quite clearly what format they are for. If it's an official Akai CD and the Catalog number of the CD is APCD002 or similar, that is the format we used for S5/6000 & Z Series CD's.
