MPC2500 Freezes when 128 MB CF Inserted

I have a brand new MPC2500 that came with a 128MB compact flash card from Akai. Everytime I insert the card it locks up the machine and won't allow me to do anything until it is ejected. I tried to format the cf card but I can't because it is fozen. Does anyone have any ideas? I have a 80GB hard drive installed (which is formatted) and the 128MB RAM upgrade. I haven't updated the OS. Would updating the OS help? Thank you for listening.

you can find any info you need as regards with the upgrade of the os on akai pro site;)
