note values?

id like to learn more about note values for my sequenceing i normally record on a pretty standard 1/16 for all my instruments from drums to synths ,what other note values r good and for what kind of sound? ive heard some record drums at 16/3 ive tried that a few times but never really got it to sound on point and i dont know if its good for other keyboard parts like synths or bass,is there a site that can breakdown the structure of note values?

anybody have some tips ,just looking to beable to count notes and use a few variations,i really dont know how to count mostly using the 16ths which does always give me the groove im looking for?
