I don't see what the big deal is here. Akai provided two free operating systems. JJ produced a third free system that fixed critical errors in the Akai software. As far as JJ's massively upgraded 'pay" version is concerned, companies charge money for major OS upgrades all the time, because it amounts to a lot of extra work on their part. What difference does it make?
