MIDI'ing 2 MPC's?????

I have a 2000xl and a 1000.

I want to be able to MIDI my Fantom to the A port to the 2000xl. (done)
And I want to be able to use the 1000 in port B.

When I hook it up, I can only use one track from the 1000 at a time.

Does the 1000 have MIDI tracks like the Fantom?
I know there's only 16 possible tracks but I guess i'm missing where I set this up on the 1000.

I wanted to do something like this too. I thought it would be pretty self explanatory but after reading this post maybe not. Now Im curious to know the outcome. If someone has successfully done this post up how. Fuk it I got two mpc's Ill just try

It sounds like your question is about the 1000... but this is the 2000 forum.

But in my mind, I'm wondering how you plan to use the 1000 in conjunction with the 2k. It sounds like you are trying to use the 1000 as a sound module. Can I ask why 1 of the MPCs doesn't work alone? In a studio setup, the only advantage I can see is if you were running out of voices.

I used 2 XLs at one point for DJ style live PAs. Trying to share MIDI gear between the gear was a nightmare so I eventually gave it up. But my method was typically to sync the two MPCs together by MIDI while they were each using their own sequences.

yea i just want to use the 1000 as a sampler/module...

The MPCs don't really make the best sound modules, they are more designed to be running as a sequencer (that's their main feature). I would highly recomend selling one of those and replacing with a S or Z sampler for much cheaper. Plus they are capable of so much more.

I don't know the 1000 well, but the XL has a Multiple Track Recording function which allows you to map multiple midi ins to multiple tracks (its in the manual). I've never used it, but might want to try using the XL as the sound module to see if that gets you anywhere.

mc smooth and nanoloop, yall both made some good points...the 1000 is kind of banged up tho..i gotta fix a couple of buttons and tighten up the pads, but i think i'm gonna sell it and just get one of the samplers u mentioned...good lookin out
