Grid edit audio question

Hello,

i´m having a hard time figuring what´s the use of grid edit for audio.
Is this ment for quantizing audiofiles or is the grid "just" for seeing wether the recorded file fits or not?

i'm not sure either. i think it helps when you're trying to fit a loop to a set number of bars. you can just adjust the tempo, and the bars/beats scale moves, while the wave stands still. that's about it as far as i'm concerned, i wouldn't miss it if it was gone.
