tapping buttons...different settings ?

still testing my new(well secondhand) and first 2000xlMPC, seems to be just a dodgy slider to note so far...although i have one question...

Everyone i've ever seen using an mpc, when they tap the same pad repeatedly, the sound seems to stop everytime they press it again...so u get a "t-t-t-t-t-turntables" type sound....

on mine, everytime u press it, the sound plays out, so if its a word, it plays the whole word out each time u press the button. sounds bad obviously lots of sounds echoing over the other....

I've tried finding this setting in the manual...but i dont really know what i'm looking for...can anyone tell me what setting i need to change/button i need to press? or what i need to look for in the manual...thanks...

in program you can set the setting from "poly" to mono or note off. This will fix your problem. Note off means the sample will only play while your pressing it down and mono will play and cut off the next time you hit the button. I set everything to note off or mono right when i turn on the mp. Thats just me though. Hope this helps man

the different modes can all be useful. you should also look into grouping pads together, so that hitting one pad will stop the sample playback from another. good way to simulate opening and closing the hihat.....

thanks for all help so far, now, i click shift6 for program, when i do that it asks me to choose a drum prog to edit, so i choose 1, then it seems i have to amend this detail for each sound...surely theres a fast way to do it for all sounds no?
cos couldnt there be like 64 sounds to do all that with? (assuming you wanted them all set to note off or whatever)

ur question is not clear to me.. im not used to the newer mpcs.. but its the same thing.. if ur question was.. how do a put a set together... sample it... piece by piece.. its the best thing that could happen to u...

not quite sure what ur gettin at there, i cant wait to get home from work and get on and learn how to use my mpc...noones laughing here!

my question was, about the settings for when you press the buttons...

so i can amend the details about each note in prgram, like change it from mono to poly or note off etc...and i simply asked if there was a way to turn all the notes u have programmed in from one setting to another, in one go...not having to change each one from poly to note off for example..

not sure where i ever asked how to put a set together....

wasnt aimed at u... it was more about the fact that people think its abnormal when they spend 20 minutes laying a hihat... (some do it fast... ) but i dunnow... to me its important to mention that its art...
