worried

i'm trying to go from akai 1.07 to JJ 3.06

i followed the instructions to upgrade by holding down window while turning on... it found the new OS and i hit record to write it. it did, then i get a blank screen. what now? is it still updating? i dont wanna brick my MPC.

i panicked and turned it off, then tried putting on Akai 2.10

still nothing.

then i tried adjusting the contrast (shift + data wheel).

same idea, but thank you so much!

why does the contrast change so much when changing OSs? is it safe to put 3.06 on now that 2.10 is ok now?

yeah it'll be fine, just note that it's stop+data wheel in the jjos, not shift+data wheel.

ok... i'm running 2.10 now....

no sound anywhere. i loaded my programs and sequences that i had on my card.

programs do nothing when loaded and pads are hit and sequences make buzzing noise when played.

what do i do?

just use the jjos 3.06, you're less likely to get problems than with 2.1

sound is not working with 3.06.

now i'm worried.

try starting afresh, sample something, see if it works that way. i think there may be some differences in the levels in programs between the different OSs.

still not working. i loaded programs and sequences from internal memory.

nothing from any pads and just buzzing while playing sequences.

did you try sampling something? also try playing a sample in the trim window.

trim window play works.
havent tried sampling something yet, i can't at the moment, but i will be able to in about an hour.

what does all this mean?

try a reset.

hold erase + power on mpc.

with 3.06 ?

thank you all very much for helping me! I'm already in love with 3.06 and plan to upgrade to the pay versions soon (once i get a new cartridge for my turntable).
