new synth $400

ok, i finally am getting my beats recorded. now i want a synth whats the best way to spend $400. i know it is pretty cheap for a synth but i figure theres something out there in that range that i am overlooking..thanks for any help. old or new is not important.

I think you should go out and look for yourself and get what you like. But that is just me cuz you wouldnt want to go on just what someone told you wuold you? Someone else might make a suggestion, but I wont unless your a little more specific about what you want to do with it. Peace

yes i have been looking myself but i thought maybe there was somethinhg i overlooked. i want a synth that has basses, and really that is about it. maybe some nice pads that would fit into downtempo/dub tracks. i primarially make hiphop but i want to get a little more broad w/ my tunes. i like the ms2000r but it is too expensive i think. maybe a novation bass station (but i allready had a ks4) or old roland. i don't mind a rack mount and i live in the boonies so i can't really try them myself(lame!). oh my other peeve about the korg ms2000r is that it is monophonic. thanks.

For 400 you can get a microkorg, or a used trinity rack (TR RACK), possibly if you find a good deal, a kurzweil k2000 or k2000R (the rackmount version), if you look hard I am sure you can find a good Korg ms2000 used for around 400, about the price of a new microkorg.

I agree woth Toecutter, the Microkorg or anther 50-75 bucks will get you a decent MS2000 on eBay. I'd spring for the MS2K, it has bigger keys and more hands on control.

i just bought a Korg MS2000r brand new from Guitar Center in denver for $369. i love it.

what about an emu mk6 or pk6? They work very well with the mpc, ive got the mk6(mophatt sounds) basically its got alot of bass and drum sounds. The pk6 has a variety of sounds (triton ish) But you can add good expansion cards and get a huge library of sounds with a good synth and filters.

If i didnt already own a triton i would use the mk6 with the "sounds of zr76 rom" and the "orchestral rom" and "proteous pop rom"

YOu would literally not need anything else.

It has 4 voice polyphony, it's only 2 part multi timbral in split/dual mode.

dang, that k2000 is a deal at 400. i've got the 76 key with sampler option :VAST is where it's at. 64 note polyphony, 16 track sequencer. great acoustic presets, a decent moog and a great arp pad.

it has nothing like the presets of the other boards though, you aren't gonna dial it up and be as impressed as what a korg is going to give you, but it has a lot more to grow with and reads akai.ensoniq.roland so you have the sounds if you load them. just make sure to check the PRAM.

Those kurzweils are murder, I like their sequencer on the 2600, but the dang thing is mega pricey...
