MPC PAD 187 Software Problem

Hey guys, been making up some program banks and seem to be finding some of the sounds are all over the place.

Does anyone know which pads on the software (MPC PAD 187) relate to the ones on an MPC500?

I manage to load my 10MB program and all the sounds work but not all are allocated to the slots!

I am guessing I am not the only one to find this?

Ok, first thing to remember is that PAD 187 is designed for an MPC1000 that has 4 banks of 16 pads. The MPC500 has, as you know, 4 banks of 12 pads.

So, when you load up the samples into PAD 187, any samples you assign to Bank A pads 13-16 will load into Bank B Pads 1-4 on the 500.

The assignment will then go as follows:

MPC1000 Bank B Pad 1 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 5
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 2 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 6
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 3 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 7
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 4 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 8
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 5 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 9
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 6 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 10
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 7 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 11
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 8 = MPC 500 Bank B Pad 12
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 9 = MPC 500 Bank C Pad 1
MPC1000 Bank B Pad 10 = MPC 500 Bank C Pad 2

if pad 187 is laid out anything like blue box then the easiest thing to do is just not load any samples into the 4 pads on the right side in the program....

I have found a simple solution for all MPC500 users.


Take no note that bank 'D' should not have any samples loaded into it and just load up all off Banks A, B and C.

I edited the default .pgm file to max out the volumes of the pads and write in a 'NOT MPC500' in the D bank to remind me.
