dunno if this would be at all possible at this point, but for playing live it would be really useful to be able to recall different preset mute settings for each song...it can be a bit difficult to time things properly when you have to switch between different banks to mute things...
my old su700 can do this (calls the settings 'scenes')...it's quite useful.

(bump...)

so...nobody would find this useful ?
...not even when playing live ?

just think...one button press could, for example, mute tracks 2,3,4,19, and 25 instantly...you can't do that now, and it seems like it wouldn't be tooooo terribly complicated....???

it's possible...just record track mute on a specific track and unmute this track...(works for effects too...)

i'm not entirely sure what you mean...?

but if i do understand you:

i'd like to avoid recording the mutes into a long (i.e. 256-bar) song length arrangement...i'd rather have a song made up of a bunch of 8 bar loops, for example, that i can mute/unmute and also play over live.

Just mute the tracks that need to muted at the begining of the song and save the sequence like that, when you pull the sequence up those tracks will already be muted and ready to start the song.

mmm...not sure that you guys know what i mean.
i typically run a sequence with...say, 25 tracks looping over 8 bars. i mute and unmute them in order to make some sort of arrangement. now say i need to simultaneously mute two tracks that are on different banks, there's no way i can do it instantly as i have to mute one track, switch banks, then mute the other.

it'd be nice to be able to save mute 'scenes' (i'm calling them this, because that's what they're called on the su700) where you could just hit a key and recall specific mute combinations.

I would do this with different seqs too, with jj os you can switch between the sequences while playing with no problem. Or use Trackmove to bring the tracks u need together in one bank, but that might not be enough.

Ok, gottcha. That would be dope! I thought you just wanted the right tracks to be muted for the start of the song so you didnt have to go thru muting those before you hit play.

that's the solution. 1 scene = 1 sequence.
just copy the sequence several time and arrange your mutes the way you want.
and since JJ extended the note capacity to 300 000 events you should be fine.

otherwise use the separate outputs, this way you can mute (on the mixer) the sounds coming from the other bank. this is how i have always done.

mmmyup...i guess making multiple sequences would be the way to do it.

thanks all.
