Sampling from a MIDI keyboard to the mpc

I know this probably comes up alot and I did read the last thread and the manual, but only to come to the conclusion that I need instructions in big, capital, 40+ font letters. In the most basic english i'm trying to hook up my keyboard to the mpc and play the keyboard keys so that they come up in a sequence. So I press sequence, track, porgram and I made a blank new program because the samples from the mpc otherwise get played when I touch the keyboard keys. When I press record, playstart and hit the keys I end up with nothing; can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks ahead.

wont work....your best bet would be to put the output of th the keyboard into your computer while you play along with your mpc, then export the recorded file into the mpc. the keyboard only sends midi signals

you better read up what midi is...

midi does not transport audio signals!

try and find a good set of samples that emulate keyboard and map them to each pad on your program, in this way you can use the MPC like a sample based keyboard

That explains it then...DJ Duz i'm definitely going to go with your method, my friend did that once a while back with garage band.

maybe I'm reading what he's asking wrong, but If he's only wanting to hook up his MPC-Keyboard to work with each other, laying down a drum beat on the MPC and then adding layers of what hes playing on the keyboard its possible to get them all hooked up together. (computer, keyboard, mpc)

what if he connected his stereo out from his keyboard or something to this record in on the mpc, shouldnt he be able to record sounds from his keyboard to his sequences? there must be a way

Maybe I'm not helping at all but why don't you just record the MIDI from your keyboard into your MPC sequence on a MIDI track and then play it back through the keyboard. If the keys are multitimbral then you can play back several parts at once. The only point of recording the audio (unless you're sampling it) is to track it for mixing, right?

heres my question. if he IS tracking into a daw then the Keyboard-MPC marriage is a whole lot easier in terms of getting the keyboard sounds onto his MPC pattern, correct?? theres ways to sync everything together so that you've got your whole song (keyboard sounds and all) onto your MPC...GET A DAW!!!

thats a bit like saying "if you want to go around a race track faster GET A FERRARI"

different people use different methods/cars, no way of doing it/type of car is better, just as long as the track at the end is good/you finish first who cares?

yea i hear what your saying, i just kinda askin for my own curiousity though. would it not make recording your keyboard part straight on your beat on the mpc much easier?? i haven't dont it yet, but i think theres a way to sync it all together so that you can be layin down a drum track on the mpc, spin around (in a stylish manner, of course) to that asr-10 you only bought cuz you saw alchemist doin his thing on it where you lay down the keyboard track. then you spin back over to the mp (once again, get your groove on) press the play button, and WALLAH! symphonic and orgasmic and the same time.

so, is this how it looks when its all hooked up correctly???

Here's what i do

Got the mpc and my synth keyboard synced up thru midi.

Got the outs of the synth goin to the ins of the mpc and listen to all the sounds via input thru.

I can sequence on the mp, all 16 midi channels on my synth play back fine. and all the sound comes out thru the mpc stereo outs. and i can track it in to my daw or two track it, should i choose to.

with that setup do you have the capability to record your synth straight onto the mpc track?? then you can chop it up on the mp, make neccessary changes and such?? cuz i think its very neccessary to be able to lay down what you want drum-wise with the mp, and then record straight from the keyboard onto the mpc. with the whole song on you mpc to play around with
