I'm a New User! Use a Korg Triton Classic 61-Key w/ 1k?

Hey,
Can anyone help me. I have the 1k and the the Triton Classic and I am trying to set the two up with each other. What I ultimatly want is to be able to play the Keyboard for melodies and the MPC for the beats and samples. When I connect the two making the MPC the master and the Triton the slave, I get MPC sounds on both the MPC and Keyboard. Some please tell me what I need? How to do it? Where to start! Like I said I am new to this industry!!!! Thank you!

first you need to get the manuals for both pieces of gear to look up specific settings/tweaks for each instrument.

second you should look into setting the Triton's MIDI controller features to LOCAL OFF (or somethign similar). basically most keyboards can be thought of as two units, a MIDI controller (the keys) and an audio module (sound maker). normally the two units are connected together (LOCAL ON) but you want to disconnect them because you want the module part to only be controlled by the MPC's MIDI OUT. the controller part will allow you to play melodic samples or drums on the MPC or the sounds on the Triton, depending on what track is selected on the MPC.

the important thing is to realize that you need to use different tracks in the MPC on your sequences. each track needs to be set to either a MPC program or for a specific MIDI channel on the Triton. you should really read any material in the manuals on using your hardware with other devices to get a better idea of what can be done with your equipment....
