some. The benfit of the MV 8 series is you can switch from a line style input (like a CD player, turntable, etc) to a guitar style input with the touch of a button. Then afterwards you can use MV to create patterns or sequences and songs with your drum loops or riffs, then play over that with your guitar or whatever. Then on top of that you have the track recorder built right in with CD burning options. its basically a studio in a box. they have them at guitar center and places like that if you want to take a look at one. Its not 'ideal' for like rock music, but new rock or music where you incorporate samples along with rocky sort of music would be good for a machine like that. Think Gym Class Heros, Maroon 5, like that.
