Not only do they not want to look at the manual, they don't even want to look at the MPC itself!

I bought my MPC 1K from a guy off craigslist. I had never worked with MPC's. When he sold me it, he deleted select files off the CF card he gave me, which was causing some sort of **** up corruption in the OS. Plus I didn't know shit about MPC's. It was causing the MPC to lock up at times, and do random crap. I thought I got ripped off

I paid him 500 cash and 150 in a check (it was 2 months old). I called him, no answer. I panicked and cancelled the check. He called back and was understandably pissed. I convinced him to come over and show me around the MPC for about an hour. Afterwards, I was satisfied and paid him the 150. For about a month afterwards, random shit on the MPC had me in the back of my mind still convinced that it was **** up. Turns out, its just a combination of a really shitty OS and my lack of knowledge of MPC's.

In retrospect, I looked like a total **** newbie. I didn't know how half the functions worked, so my natural inclination is to blame something other than my abilities (ie, this machine is a pos). I felt embarrased after what happened, but was so grateful for the guy helping me. This is probably what has prevented me from posting idiotic questions on this forum like the one we have demonstrated here. I think everybody goes through it, and afterwards you are so traumatized you want to do it to somebody else (as I have found myself saying a few times in threads 'dude, read the manual'). Lets all try and have some compassion for new people, even though it annoys us.

Ok, so you didn't know about the software corruption issues... but you were able to find the headphone jack, right?

I'm getting the sense from this thread that we're all a bit more amazed then annoyed.

That's a beautiful story Lithion... you brought a little tear to my eye... but I still think it's funny as hell that dude couldn't find the headphone jack.

Ohh yea dont get me wrong, I thought that the shit was hilarious myself. The best part was when he was like

"wow do i feel small..."

I was making a general comment about random questions, not just this particular one.
