Midi Keyboard Pitch Bend, Knob assignment and etc questions

I have the M-Audio Oxygen 8 v2 midi keyboard.

I want to know what I can assign to the knobs, sliders, pads and what have you on the MPC1000.

And then, how do I go about doing so.


And yes, I read the **** manual. The manual was written by four chimps in a room with a keyboard while smoking cigarettes.

I have an Oxgen61 -- same thing but with more keys and knobs -- and I have yet to figure it out. The manual that came with the keyboard leaves a lot to be desired as far as how to program the damn thing

I'm not exactly sure if it's even possible to get it working 100% with the MPC

The manual includes standard midi implementation charts for both the sequencer and sampler sections in the appendices.

If you want to what kind of midi the MPC will receive and transmit, that's all you need to look at. Of course if you're a cigarette smoking chimp you might have a little trouble with that...

so, I looked in the back of the manual. Holy shit that manual sucks. I sort of understand how to assign samples to keys, thats easy.

I go to mode > midi and change the not (for example change pad A1 to hit middle C) but it doesnt change the parameters. Then I go into Mode > program and change the midi note (A1 to hit middle C) then it changes. WTF?!?! so now I'm wondering, in theory if I save my midi changes to a program I should just load the program then it will be saved?

can you give me a list of what all functions the keyboard can activate? so far I found out how to program play, stop, and thats it.

I'm going to fukk somebody up soon if I dont figure this out


I'm thinking of buying a Mo Phatt but if I get this pissed off with just the MPC I'm thinking that shite will be harder, I dunno. Maybe I should just buy a keyboard synthesizer. When you midi the synthesizer to the mpc, does the mpc apply timing correction to the notes you play on the synthesizer?

That is exactly what a midi implementation chart is.

And -- it's a standard format that's included in at least 90% of all the midi device manuals out there, so from your viewpoint it won't matter what device you use, the manual will always "suck".

Personally I don't have any problem with it. If it's not on the chart, it's not in the machine. Simple.
