Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By scatizone Sat May 05, 2007 6:23 am
My Blue 2000xl MCD crashes MANY times when I am accessing my 1Gb CompactFlash card. Symptoms include moving deeper into directories and then unable to navigate backwards, and other times the whole unit crashes and the screen fills with characters. Are certain brands better than others for this unit? I cannot find a brand compatibility chart anywhere. Anyone else had similar problems and other workarounds? At first I thought it was the RAM, but I have tried 3 types that were recommended by Akai Support as well as info I had found online. Same issues with all memory. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, will try...Do you know if CompactFlash cards should be formatted FAT or FAT32? I just bought a SanDisk UltraII 2Gb card and when trying to format with the MP i get "Error at: 000:D29C" any thoughts? The card also shows up as a capacity of ???? right out of the package...Have had issues from the start with this box..

I could not format my new SanDisk 2Gb, got errors, then reinstalled the 1.20 OS, which allowed me to now format the card, but only for 1Gb, not the full 2Gb capacity. Any suggestions? I then formatted the card on a PC and was able to get the 2Gb capacity back, but the MP couldn't read the card. I tried formatting to FAT and FAT 32 on Windows XP. Any suggestions?

its the cards some work some dont dane elec are the most compatible
i use that brand and got up to 4gig and pny tech i got up to 2gig and those cards you dont have to format. i go between my pc and my mpc. cause im taken all my sounds sequence from my floppys and dumping them on the cf card just be aware that it will change the order of the sequence and pgm some time. all you do is lay it back out and resave to your mpc stay away from sandisk

Hey, I have never been able to get a card that works over 1Gb. I was told that Dane Elec is the best brand, and that people have been able to use up to a 4Gb card, right out of the box, without formatting. I just got mine in the mail today, popped it in and the MP wasn't able to read it. After formatting, I only had 1 Gb available, just like all my other 2Gb cards. I am also getting navigation issues when trying to load from any 2Gb card. I can go multi levels into folders, and then I get stuck in one of them, unable to go in or out further. The only solution is to pop the card out, pop it back in again, and let the Load screen re-scan the ATAPI drive. Been having a LOT of issues with this MPC2000XL MCD. Maybe there was a Rev. that fixed this in later versions of the MP, does anyone know about this?

The IDE Card Reader in my MP is Version 9350. Is there a later version that came with the 2KXL? I have partitioned the card on a Mac to 2 Fat16 partitions after formatting it on the MP, and cannot access the second partition. Is there something I'm missing? People have said that they have used 2 and 4Gb Dane Elec cards, but have they been able to get the full capacity, or simply used them as 1Gb storage?

Just out of curiousity....what brand or where did you buy this MCD? Ive bought one from http://www.mpcstuff.com and installed it and used a 1gb FC from sandisk ultra. I put the card in without formatting it and didnt have any problems...saw my 1gb space. This was with the 1.14 OS on my mpc.

2gb and 4gb is a lot of space, you must have mad beats saved.
I have like 50 beats saved and only use like 200 mb.

I don't think the MPC will read a 2gb card,I have a 2kxlMCD with 2 PNY 1gb CF cards and 1.20 OS I've had a crash here and there but not when acessing the CF card.Maybe the card reader is bad?
