How close is the JJ OS to the os on the mpc 2000xL

I been rockin the mpc 10000 for a quick minute now but im' on the originoo operating system version 1.1 or whatnot..

my partner n crime jus picked up a beautiful thing the ALMIGHTY mpc 2000XL..

that joint is nice, mad eazy to use, seems very intuative... so yeah jus got up off using it for a week... and i came back to these boards

I been hearing alot about the jj os, went to they page and from what i saw and from how i jus came off on the XL, the operating systems seem mad similar..

is that so or am i off the rocker wit my assumption..


also what are the main benefits of the jj os.. and i'm talkin about the free one i can't afford no $20 for the paid one...yet n still i'm strugglin wit funds right now..

i mean i went to the page and the way it describes it is behyond me...
i searched on here and what it seems is like some extra features..

like pitch shift and time stretchin...

but why pitch shift when you can jus use TUNE? and this stuff wit the qlink sliders main i aint' never use those to me they jus pretty decorations...

but yeah somebody give it to me in plain english, what the big hub bub is bout the jj os cuz i aint' really catchin it from they website and the search on here about that jus opened up more questions then answered...

Pitchshift, tune, timestretch are all somwhat similar but results are different. The features are not for decoration, some people actually use those features and use them well. You don't use them, well that means your missing out on knowing more about your machines capabilities.

since there is a free version, just try it and see by yourself. simpler than someone spending ages trying to describe all the new stuff (and not really knowing what is relevant to you or not).

anyway, it is still an mpc, so rhater straightforward really. enjoy the discovery

it turns the 1000 into a monster! Its well worth the $30 for the password so dont even play yourself with the free version just get it. plus whenever they think of some new stuff to incorporate the update is free. its like christmas! and to me the best part is that its still a small machine. If your still on the 1.1 os from akai then you'll be blown away with jj's 4.64 os because just the display alone will throw you off for a while but in about a couple days or so you'll understand whats going on and then you'll learn to love it! Go get it!

my apologies if i came across ignorant but believe me i done d/l'ed both the manual for the mpc 2000xl and the jj os and like i sed it does seem to compare...

and yeah i know i'ma jus have to try it... thing is this i dont' have internet at home.. so im' at the public library they close at 5pm today so what i'ma do is this..

they got a ghost staff runnin it cuz its sunday no people here so as soon as the library lady goes upstairs to shut down i'ma brought my cable for my card reader i'ma plug it in and d/l the os the free one down to it and take it home...

so we should be good wit that...

Someone said a while back that you wouldn't be able to save or something, I don't remember which version though, someone else gotta speak on that.


There is alot of info on these boards about the details of each os, I mean, dang people created whole new threads when they come out and talk all about it compared to the last one.

You can read about it, or you can be about it, or both, it's really your choice, go to one of your homeboys cribs and see if you can download it there, see if someone can send you the free one in email or something.

Save that money and if it's something you really want, you'll make sacrifices and you'll find a way to MAKE it happen.

As it stands now JJ's free is a major improvement over the Akai OS, the JJ paid is a major improvement over his free.
It has more features and looks different.
Basically you load the free try it out like it then load the paid to see the differences and then pay to unlock it.
The free is fully functional, the paid is the one that won't save until you pay the $30.
I think what you are seeing about the JJ that remionds you of the 2k is JJ's OS makes the box pick up some 2k features Akai left out and gives it a more balanced workflow so it feels more intuitive with the JJ OS, especially the paid version.
Thge $30 is nothing compared to what it actually does for the unit.

bizzzla, definitely grab the free OS 3.06 and save a little scratch each week for the paid version. By then, you'll have time to master the free version and learn what's new in the paid version while you're saving up.

Sometimes you gotta sacrifice too homie! Maybe you'll walk home that much faster knowing what your about to get to.
