where can i learn??

where can i learn or read about how i chop up drum samples properly and how i can create a new swinging drum pattern with the mpc2000xl? does the e-book "art of drum layering" explain this???

any book can explain the process but you'll still need to do all the work. practice practice practice!

do a search on youtube. i've seen tutorial vids very similar to what your looking for

The way I learned was using Sony acid music studio its a very cheap and simple program u just go to file import audio then load whatever song u wanna work its that easy.

first learn how the machine works. then things will make alot more sense.2kxl has tools to make chopping easier than older mpc's. after that, best method is trial and error. no matter how many videos you watch and read up on techniques, if you dont put in time, it's not gonna come out right. dont expect to watch a youtube video, and instantly be good at this. conceptually, slicing samples is simple. its all about execution.

thanks for the replies. of course i know, that after i watch a vid about how to chop or lay down drums i wouldn't be better then before. but it might give me some insperations how i deal better with it. maybe some basic tricks how to lay down some drums or how to get the swing right. i know that i have to practice to improve myself. that's what i do. i guess all of you have asked somewhen or someone for help when you wanted something to work. i thought that's the point of this mpc forum. to share the knowledge with each other.
