usb connection with windows 98se (and other questions)

hi dudes,

i got my mpc yesterday, and i try to figure out some features of this lovely little machine.

i am new to this whole mpc thing, (i made my beats with fruity loops the last few years [that sucks])

i ve got some questions for you maybe you can help me a little bit:

1.is there a way to connect the mpc 1k with windows 98se via usb?

2.what about the q-link

3.i wanted to create a drum loop like TOO FAST TOO FURIUS from Ludacris
with that tight rollin snare, i played that with the mpc but when i press play to listen to the recorded track it doesnt sound like that what i ve played
i didnt rolls. why , what do i have to make with the time correction to play such a rollin shit

when i plug my mpc in comes a window which wants a driver for the mpc 1000 from me

is there another opputunity to solve this problem?????

A driver for the MPC1000? It's a "USB Mass Storage Class" device, maybe you can just install a Dummy device, to keep Windows happy.
When asked for a driver, choose "Select device from a list", category "storage", "Unsupported Device" or "Generic Device" or such.
(Don't know exact text, it's years since I touched old-style Windows!)

It wants a driver for everything, but sometimes you can get away with a Generic driver for storage devices, it doesn't always have to be specific. Try different ones, it's not dangerous unless you get it Very wrong...
