question on recording your 8 outs

im curious to know how some of you record using your 8 outs?
do you run your outs into an outboard mixer, eq, then record into your computer or multitrack?
do you record your 8 outs directly into your multitrack?

if you do record through an outboard mixer, do you feel the summing and the inputs of your recorder do the track justice?
im at a crossroads right now on whether to buy another 8 input soundcard interface or cop an outboard mixer and run everything through it

I'd suggest mixing in your DAW. much easier und cheaper to get good results...

I send 8 ins straight to my daw and then mix accordingly. I also often add percussion and fx in cubase - saving good crashes to the 60's memory is just a waste!

I couldn't believe the difference in sound from when I seperated everything and then mixed it compared to the stereo mix - it was night and day to my ears!

i don't have a mpc 60 ne more but i have an sp 1200 and i record its 8 outs into the 8 1/4 ins of a rme fireface 800, great results

i dont think many people on here actually do that
its a big difference runnin through a mixer but i dont always have access to the ssl board i have been using recently.

and the debating in my head continues...

If I could get my hands on an SSL, there wouldn't be much of a debate! But I can't, so cubase does the job for me. Whatever's easiest/best is the way to go. Although I'd hate to wait on mixing a track just because I don't have a fat board in front of me.
