Multi-Tracker that's Compatible with MPC2000XL

I have an MPC2000XL, and now I am in the market for a digital multitracker recorder ..my budget is about $700-$1000...drop some specific names that I could go buy that'll be easy to operate and easy to hook up to my MPC2000XL.

I use a yamaha aw16g.. roughly $1200. But Boss multitrack W/ cd-r can be found for under $1000- $800, also Shopping around for used multitracks in good condition with owner's manual may work for you to. Stay focused and make a good choice.

Get a DPS, they sound really good.

DPS? don't they cost about 2 grand?

The DPS12 is like 400 bucks, a DPS16 will be like 800 to 1000 for used units, they don't make them anymore.

Shit, i got a DPS12i for $250, my homie got a DPS24 for $950. s5000 samplers are going for $350. Its a good time to pick up a DAW or rack sampler on the used market.

really?...I see a Korg D1200 with CDRW for $599...should I get that or the DPS? Which will be easier to use and more compatible?

same difference. its all about how much you want to spend, i like the DPS casue its like using an mpc, with the soft keys and the interface etc is similar. so if you can get your head around the MP you can do the DPS.

one thing i really liked about the DPS is the SOUND. i got a digi001 as well, another of my homies uses a Roland VS, but the DPS still kings them.

Ok, say I get the D12 because of the CDRW..that's an advantage right? I can burn right to a disk and take it to my computer and play with it. If I get the DPS with no CDRW..I don't know how to get it to my computer or to a disc.

If thats a selling point then cop that D12. Its simple as hell to hook up a CDR to the DPS or connect the digital out to a soundcard or dat for the final mix, but do what you want.

Anyone have any experiences with the Roland MV800? You don't need a multitrack with that.

The general consesus on the MV is that it's a bad imitation of the MPC without any of the finess of the the MPC. Many have checked it out and claim that the MPC is a far better machine. As for multi-trackers, i would highly recommend a second hand DPS12i. The DPS16 is also a great machine if you can find one at a good second hand price.

DPS-series are a sleeper for real and to be honest they are sh*tting on most of the stuff out today and they don't even make them anymore!....but if I could say 1 great thing off the top of my head would be itz sound......

I co-sign on the DPS. Akai but all thier professional post-proiduction skills into these boxes.
