what are good artists to sample frm to find good hip hop sounding drums

Compression, don't forget about compression. It can really fatten up your drums.

And filtering / layering.. if u filter a kick so u just got bottom end, then layer that underneath ur original kick and roll off the bottom end of the original kick with eq, u'll have a nice airy kick with fat bottom end.. u just gotta mix the 2 right.
A good thing with snares is to get 2 snares... and roll off the bottom end of one with eq so u got the real snappy top end, and layer that over a diff snare for the fullness of the mids / bottom, then u'll have a real strong snare.. etc etc
