c0mplex wrote:It is really that hard to take the time to learn? to do things properly? U should enjoy learnin, coz no matter what stage u at theres always more to learn and more progression ahead, but ur skippin past sh!t and not going up the propa path's,, u wont get anywhere like that.. its just gonna f**k u up in the long run. And not only will u block urself from progression in various ways but u'll also block urself mentally from ever really clickin and understandin what ur involved in.

c0mplex wrote:Also, how u layer, eq and shape ur sounds is just as important as the choppin and sequencin, can be more important some times coz it can be a huge contributing factor when it comes to an individuals sound, same as how peeps go with certain mix / master engineers for "theyre" sound.

Stop biting and steelin peeps sh!t... ever since the start biting has been a total NO.. wether ur biting an emcees lines or a beat makers drums.

Why dont we end this discussion here and conclude it with u peeps thinkin its cool to sample off hiphop tracks are straight wack and nothin but toys, biters, and fakes... nothin more to say on it.. u cant justify ur bullsh!t and as i said before only peeps who will agree with u are other toys who dont know theyre sh!t and young kids who dont know no better..

http://www.myspace.com/kevbrown Why not hit the man up himself, ask him what he thinks of u bittin his sh!t.

^ do you get what your saying?

so does that make us "toys" if we find a drum break, chop it up to are liking, and then eq and such???

someone could say that too is biting and stealing work from an artists record, and not having any consideration for the work the engineer did also???

I get exactly what your saying but, just think about how you word things.

Co sign..

And to the toys who wanna try to justify theyre bullsh!t, u dont realize how much of a wack fool u are.

Any of these peeps whose hiphop tracks u samplin, if u stepped to them and told them ud get slapped up hard without a doubt. Also outcast from the scene by everyone besides other toys who dont know what they doin.

Back to the topic... u want good drums.. dig, find drums, learn to layer and eq, learn to shape them to the sound u want them. If u aint gonna put the time in and want some easy quick route to sh!t then ur wastin ur time and everyone elses on this forum who post to ur sh!t tryin to help.

Opinions are azzholes to bad you have to be an azzhole with an opinion. I want to see you smack someone for sampling. Who the **** made you the hip hop police. Youre a good example of a "hip hop fundamentalist" who is BROKE YET DOING IT FOR THE LOVE. Broke ass, love dont pay the bills and you'd be quick to criticize a success artist like Nelly or Akon because of what sounds like a triton in their song or cuz they rap about ice or all the puzzy you aint gettin. Wake up TOY nobody but you and 2 other people care about who samples what and they just so happen to be your boys who you make up the rest of your wack crew. So while files, songs, and sequences are being saved as you read this we are sampling your wack kicks, snares, and scratches off that myspace song, making them hot and posting them for the whole forum to enjoy. Now son, sit yo wack ass down and STFU.

Nah.. thing is, I already explained previously that diggin is a huge part of it, spendin the time to dig and find breaks, old unknown forgotton records, then choppin, layerin, and eq'n to shape those sounds into our own.

Totally diff from stealin sounds from some one elses hiphop track who taken time and money to dig, to work it theyre own way, and theyre own skills, not just sequencin but eq and various other processing to give sh!t theyre own personal touch when it comes to the shaping of those sounds to create theyre own style

I can't belive yall cats are saying your sampler has rules. I haven't personally sampled any hip hop myself, but the rule is there is no off limits sound for your sampler, some of you put to much worth into small ish. We have no idea were kev brown got his drums from, he coulda swiped disk from Jazzy jeff or he could sampled pete rock. I remember a post that just blaze made on another board where they asked him what did he think about that and he said "you gotta get your drums from somewhere". So I doubt that you would get slapped. Get real hip hop is about sampling and biting as long as its hot. Even in the beginning MC's were known for biting each others rhymes.

By KCIRCLE Thu May 10, 2007 1:35 pm
^^^to add to that comment
i saw a youtube vid of just blaze and he was sampling a drum loop....

and he straight came out and said.....yo this is one of them old big daddy kane joints called.....bla bla bla......he used almost the whole loop but got real funky in the end of course

and complex sitting up here talking bout dont sample this or that....
i feel you
but,the messed up part is you probablly bumping tracks that were made with the same foul practice you speak of,,,,,you just didnt realize it.....

as far as my 2.....i prefer to grab older ishh.,.....sometimes i'll combine 2 snares that are simulaur......maybe one from a sample and one from my mpc or reason or something,,,,,,,,,

Thats straight wack, and i dont care if just blaze did it thats just lowered my opinion.

As for my beats i dig for my samples.. i spent countless money and time in shops diggin through sh!t to find my samples. I spend the time to pitch and layer my individual drums, eq'n and filter'n each to work with eachother cohiesivly to sound like 1 drum.

So if some one sampled my drums, it wouldnt just be like them takin the drum from the same source.. it would also be them jackin my eq, filtering, and layering skills and well... not to mention all the time i spent workin the drums.. diggin, etc etc etc.

Stop justifyin the bullsh!t its wack

Probably in the sense of for scratch hooks in tracks, use on mixtapes and generally making it freely accessable to anyone regardless to if they got the money for it, and peeps freely passin it to theyre friends etc etc
