Loading Issue

I wonder if anyone can help

Im using the JJOS 3.06

I have just put together a number of sequences and then saved: 'save the entire memory'. When I then loaded the project back up it wouldnt play.

All of the song&sequence info is there and when I tried to load the samples back into the pads they are still there, ie still assigned to the pads.

Also, if you look on the Program>Sample screen the samples are all there, but with a question mark beside them, eg ?sample

Can someone please let me know if they've come across this. Is it a bug, or am I being a twat somewhere along the line?

Are the samples in the folder you saved the project to? The question mark means the sample is missing.

yep thats the reason^^^ or u have renamed all of your samples in folder,
without saving programs,
now u can perform 'the missing sample trick'

This is what I would have guessed, but they're all there in the same folder with the project, sequence&song and program files...?

Admittedly, I did not manually put any of the drum hits in there (just the main sample chops) but after 'save entire memory' they're all in there (drum hits and bass included).

Also, I haven't renamed any samples, and whats 'the missing sample trick'?

did u formatted all ur drives in mpc using 3.06??
load the project file or whole folder than
try to load just a few samples manually, one by one. whats happenin?

missing sample trick
is that when u on purpose deleting sample from the drive or saving program only,
now if u record/load new sample and u give it the same name as missing sample had>
than all of that sample attributes /loop,pad assign, pgm settings, recorded events etc/
go to your new sample.
i'm using sample01, sample2... names for that purpose, so if i record new sample and just 'keep it' it will be already assigned, ofcourse lenght, tune matters if u know what i mean.

One other possibility: Make sure you used "save entire memory" and not "save all".

Thats a cool trick which I'll have to remember - thanks flammable! -but in this case I wanted to keep the samples I already used.

I definately 'saved entire memory' as Ive lost work by not doing this in the past and Ive recreated the song and repeated the 'save entire memory' and it's still the same.

Im just backing up my cf card now and will format it with the 3.06 im using, then try again, but I dont really understand the problem.

I can load the samples which are in the folder back in and it plays what I created no problem (i.e. tuning, sequencing etc), but obviously I want the samples to be in there when I load up the project file, as it does normally.

I have not had this issue before and cant help but feeling im overlooking something, but i've made plenty of projects and not had this...

by this trick ive meant that 'name' of the sample is one of most important things
what about: replace same files > yes/no when saving?

really if ure doing everything as u say i know only 2basic reasons:
deleted or renamed sample
before u start doing music, spend 5minutes saving/loading
in every possible way, u'll sort this out.

When saving: replace same files > yes/no, doesnt this mean that it will either replace the existing project files (.PGM, .PRJ, .ALL) with the new ones (replace=yes), or make new project files which do not save over the exisitng ones (replace=no)?

Either way it should not affect the samples in the project folder, right?

Anyway, I managed to work round the problem by loading all of the samples from the folder again and then saving the program file on it's own. When I load this up I get File Not Found!, but all the samples are there and the sequences play fine...(?)

i had the same thing happen to me...I was like what the *f-u-c-k* when I could just try to fix it. So I reloaded a copy of the same program. in to the same project folder. Replaced existing samples. And shit was *s-h-i-t*. I dont know if this helps.

change your name from your email address unless you want that *s-h-i-t* all over google...

It's a pain and I cant see exactly why it did that for that specific project and not others..did loading all the samples manually then resaving/reloading the program fix the problem for you?

PS, Ive tried changing my username in Profile but it stays the same after I've submitted it...whats the dilly?
