OK, this is not in the manual. I used the SEARCH Feature on this site, and I tried everything, but for whatever reason I could not find anything to help me. I also visited mpc2000xl.com and there is nothing there. Ditto for MIDICASE.com.

I need step-by-step instructions for installing the ib-m208p 8-output board. Preferrably, with pictures. I looked and looked, used Google and everything, but I cant find anything.

Can someone give me a tutorial on how to do this, or point me toward where I might find one on the web?

I have an MPC2000xl, internal floppy, os 1.12, if that means anything. I just dont want to mess up my MPC by doing this wrong.

Please help.

-Thanks

Its pretty straight forward, if you ever installed any parts on a computer you will knock it out in like 15 minutes flat.

I throw my instructions away.

The best thing I can tell you is make sure you have it disconnected from the outlet, keep the silver plate that covers the slot at this point (you may decide to remove the 8 outs and you don't want a empty slot) , and change it out in a room with carpet because it builds up static electricity, if you don't have a proper grounding electric static could mess things up.

Hopefully, somebody will have the "step by step" instructions as per AKAI

I've just installed mine like a week ago.

I opened up my MPC (HOW MANY FCKING SCREWS DOES IT TAKE TO HOLD THIS THING TOGETHER?!?!) and it just plugs straight in to the empty port waiting for it inside the MPC. Its pretty easy to find and you just have to be careful not to bump any of the other internal components.

The 8 outs seemed to work fine and i was very proud of myself, however i've noticed now that when I try to sample anything using analog ins, something is royally fcked up - it just sounds like digital mush, there is just noise coming out of my speakers as soon as you go to the sample screen. Anything I sample is just digital sounding mush, even it samples okay, i then go to trim it and its the sound is distorted in the trim screen.

Can ANYBODY help me, or know a solution? I hope i havent fried the sampler, when i installed the 8 outs, i rested the MPC on a towel, could that conduct static electricity??

Please somebody! i cant produce without the sample function.. :x

I keep hearing people talk about how easy it is

but could someone please gimme either a website with the instructions

or step-by-step instructions

Mine didnt come with instructions, so if you have them I will pay anyone here to either scan theirs and email them to me, or just mail me their copy.

Any takers?

Please help. I dont want to fry my MPC

Relax. Any Akai dealer is just as likely to fry your mpc as you are.
As long as you unplug the mains power, and touch something grounded (like a copper pipe on your heater, or any large bare metal object) before handling the card or any parts inside your mpc you'll be fine.
Putting in the card is just as easy as a pci-card in your computer, even my sister can do that herself.

So it's best to do it in a carpeted room?

I just recently installed the 8/out board into my mpc, and the instructions were in the manual. I believe mine is a little newer (it has the internal zip), perhaps you should try downloading a manual off the akai site.

still more talk ABOUT it, but no one actually helping.

I already checked the AKAI site and couldnt find it.

Can someone give me a link? With all due respect, I know this forum, is supposed to be about helping each other out, and everyone is offering vague anecdotes and advice but no real HELP of the kind I need.

i.e. a tutorial, step by step instructions, their own manual, or a link to a manual.

Trust me, Ive looked and cant find anything.

Thanks in advance,

I gave up and plunged into installing this without help last night---found it to be as easy as yall had said it would be.

Easier even. Took me about 5 minutes.

Apologies for wigging the hell out---it wasnt bad at all.

But Im sure y'all can understand my worries---and being afraid of frying my baby.

All is good though--except for these 2 extra screws I have here lying around after I put the MPC back together.

hmmmm....

I hope the two extra screws held the blank metal plate in place where the 8 outs go... you'll know when you pick your mpc up to carry it and something falls out...

i just installed the 8 outs yesterday on my piece and there were 2 extra screws as well. i dont think its a big deal. i think they were extra from the pack of screws i got from the 8 out board.
