Why do the pads not work choromatically with a keyboard?

Hi. If i connect my mpc to an external sound source and play the pads rather than the keys, the pads dont work chromatically like a keyboard would. eg - if i hit pads a1,a2,a3,a4,a5,a6 it wont necessarily play c,csharp,d,eflat,e,f,fsharp etc.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah they're not set up in that order.. you can change them yourself. Most people re-order them then save that as a template.. here's more on this from Midicases site http://www.mpc2000xl.com/pads.htm
