My message was actually a reply to another message where everyone was argueing back and forth about is Acid better than the MPC or is Software better than hardware.
That was the whole joke in the beggining, I'm saying it doesn't matter what your using as long as your music is coming out the way to want it.

you are right about it does not matter hardware or software but in a professional situation where time is money a software setup is definitly faster than hardware setup (once you get the workflow down in the software setup). just say you have to put a comerical spot together in the next 24 hour (real life situation) acid/live 3 will help you complete your project in a fraction of the time compare to hardware setup. just by being able to put the music together, mixing and mastering on one piece of hardware (a computer) is a time saver right away. for a professional time is money. not to sound mean but this comment is for people who has made money or been in the business for more than 8 years, not someone who just brought there equiment in the last few years and trying to justified thier purchases. if hardware is the answer why is akai making software? why are new software company springing up everyday? why are hardware companies going bankrupt left and right?

CD's are obviously better than vinyl too, right MWalker? Vinyl records should just be destroyed, cd's are soooo much more practical...

Can you please tell me what hardware companies are going bankrupt? Akai, Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Beringer, Mackie, Numark, Alesis, and about 1000 more hardware companies are doing fine. Akai is making software because there is a market for product. They are not getting rid of hardware anytime soon. A professionial should be able to do the job, quickly and effiecntility on hardware or software. It dosent matter if you got a laptop with synths, samplers, sequencers, or mixers, You can buy the equivilent in hardware form. It dosent matter. So please stop this crusade. You are getting me irritated. I am getting tired of this coming just from you bout once a week. It really is a dead issuse. We all are not retarded and understand that with a $1,500 laptop or computer, you can go out and spend bout another $2,000 for programs like Acid($350) Reason($350), pro toolz ($500-$1000), wave editor like soundforge ($350) nuendo, logic, cubase, plugins ($100-600)and then the soundcards (bout another $4-500 for good ones) then a mic ($200-$1000), Midi controller ($150-400), monitors ($300-1000), or headphones ($150-400) and then samples for all this (bout $100 for a good cd) of yeah and a cd burner ($100-300). This is your ideal comp setup. Right there it looks bout = to a hardware rig
MPC 2kxl (1,500 fully loaded)
Mackie 12 mixer ($500-$1000)
Mic ($300-1000)
Pre amp ($300-1000)
Compressor ($300-1000)
Multitrack ($300-1000)
Monitors ($300-1000)
Synth Sound Mod whatnot ($400-1,500)
Turntable ($100-400)
DAT or CD recorder ($200-1000)
See hardware you can get deals, used gear, clearences, which software dont offer. You can always buy cheaper gear till you can offerd new gear.
If you aint got a dope computer with a cd writer, good sound card or monitors you cant use software. So right out the gate you have to spend bout $2000. Much more than an MPC which can do all the function that the PC can do execpt for mixing and sound module/synth use and duplication. But all that ish is loot too.
The best would be a union of both worlds. Hardware and software in unity. Thats it.
I dont think you are who you say u are mwalker. A professional wouldnt be making these ignorant and high school statements and arguments. I think you are some 20 yr. old with reason who is talking loud but aint sayin nothing.

actually, i read somewhere where vinyl is actually better than cd quailty and companies are starting to make record players again. i forget where i read it (i think ny times). and to answer your question the apollo space ship could take you to the moon too, ok. not everyone think the same. i am into technology. period. but, sometimes i cook my food on the stove and not in the microwave.

Mwalker is right, music making is faster on a computer. Professionals do need that kind of speed, but it doesn't make the music better just because it is faster. THat is the capitalist production line mentality, faster production = more profit, and in my opinion, it is something that is ruining music today. Making quick tracks may make things easier, but you are leaving out precious time that can lead to discoveries, deeper insight into the track, creativity and not to mention care.
I used to make tracks in less than 30 minutes on Fruityloops, now my spare bedroom can barely accomodate 4 people. I am much happier making music now than I was then, and I find it simpler using hardware because it is 3 dimentional, you can have a relationship with a piece of gear, it is unique, it is yours. Here's where I feel the whole energy of the creative process can be an investment. You're instrument will exude your vibe and others will pick up on it.
Also, it will feed you when you don't have the flow going. Software program is identical in every instance, a computer has no identity, and sometimes it just **** up everything for no apparent reason. Hardware machines are built from the ground up with instrument in mind. Even midi controllers are more instruments in the strict sense of the word than software is. Software has no mass, no pressence, just disembodied sound. Just what I need in a recording device, but as a primary creative tool? Not my thing anymore.

hey binger0, if you do not like what i am saying do not read it plus do not reply. i never said you could make better music with a computer, not once. when you are in a professional situation time is money. when you make your beats in your bedroom you have all the time in the world. waldof just went bankrupt last month. yamaha has just teamed up with steinberg (cubase) for a remote controller. mackie ship tracktion with it mixers and mpc1000 has usb, why? AGAIN, I NEVER SAID YOU COULD MAKE BETTER MUSIC WITH SOFTWARE BUT ONCE YOU GET A WORKFLOW AND YOUR SYSTEM RUNNING SMOOTHLY IT IS FASTER TO PRODUCE TRACKS. I AM TALKING ABOUT FROM IDEA TO A FINISHED PRODUCE. SO, BINGER0 IF MY POST IRRATATES YOU, DO NOT READ THEM AND DO NOT REPLY. THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO AGREE ME. TO BE HONEST I WOULD RATHER HAVE A LIVE BAND THAN SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE. YOU HAVE A NICE WEEKEND BINGER0 AND WHEN YOU SEE A MWALKER POST JUST DO NOT OPEN IT. SAVE YOURSELF SOME IRRATION.
