Are you hoping on an unofficial JJ OS?

an os update would be good. either way i think 500 could use some tuning up

i downloaded the OS so what do i get ? whats does it do ?

1. Improved PAD11 - "Play To" resolution from 100ms to 10ms to allow for tighter editing.
2. Improved performance under maximum polyphony to avoid tempo fluctuations.
3. Increased delay feedback maximum time.
4. When loading/assigning samples to a Program, the mpc 500 now defaults to OFF. Displayed as 'OF'
Bug Fixes
1. Updated hardware timer scaling to avoid UI hang experienced by some units.
2. Fixed Bug: decay mode text reversed from other MPC's
3. Fixed Bug: Adding new bars in front of bar 1 is not possible
4. Fixed Bug: velocity -> attack does not function
5. Fixed Bug: pressing a pad returns cursor to first line in effect mode.
6. Fixed bug: inserted tempo change events are ignored
7. Fixed Bug: 'Card is Full' message not displayed when saving a Program to a card that is full.

I think that akai is missing the boat on this one.....

the mpc500 is a good idea, but the thing doesn't **** work like it should. if they don't update the OS soon or JJ doesn't have a crack at it, i think they might lose allot of users

I will be welcomming an update, wheter it is oficial or unoficial! My MPC just crashed before me to a concert. AND THAT'S NOT COOL AKAI!!

is anyone in this forum actually in contact with jj?could we get a quote strait from him?

i just want to know for certain weather or not to wait for a new OS...

Yea, i agree, hence "hoping" in the thread title

what does OS stand for......operating system?

and 2nd how does that update work i checked the link to see what your talking about but.....
is that an update for new mpc's being manufactured or for users to update there mpc?

im still hoping for a jj os for the 2000. I what folders!!!!

I have not heard of any updates coming as of yet but we do not have any plans to discontinue the MPC 500.

At least it isn't discontinued, lol.

There's just four features I'd like to see added

1. A filter envelope
2. A high pass filter
3. The ability to trigger sample recording from a midi note
4. 1/64th and 1/64th note triplet timing correction.

Chopping isn't an issue.. Better to do that on a computer using Recycle and Soundforge where you can edit the samples far more precisely.

How about a mix/track levels feature - the fact that the only way to "mix" (I use the term loosely) is by changing sample levels, and given the single stereo out and the obscene difficulty I have in tracking the thing out even with midi, I think that is one of the major irritations I have with the 500.
