Im currently using a MPC 1000, someone made me a offer to trade their ASR 10 for my MPC 1000. What do you yall think I should do??????

ummmmm it's cool, but im kind of new to producing and I hear great things about the asr 10. So Im just trying to get the best machine.

keep the mpc, if you are just starting don't change gears alot w/ new equip. learn one thing at a time. the mpc is a great place to start. the asr would have to be t!tt!ies to trade for an mpc, im thinkin..

How do you become happy with a machine if you dont take time to figure out the one you have? Cant keep trading machines cause you heard one was better then another.

Word I understand what your all saying, but my question is what machine is better for producing some hiphop tracks str8 up!

i've had both, keep your MPC !! asr-10 is good but its no comparison to the more modern features that the MPC has. it would take an ASR-10 plus several hundred dollars to be the same in value.....an even trade would be a sucker's deal, check the going prices for both and you will see....

If your just starting out, the mpc1k is perfect. The asr 10 is a complex machine for beginners. The basics are very easy on the mpc1k. I just bought an asr x, for my set up and without a manual its almost impossible to figure out.

no offense to mpc users. but i own a asr and a mpc and i personally think the asr10 will sh*t on the mpc1k. but both of them together is murder. just my opinion tho.

i messed up and sold my asr before i realized its full potential. So learn whatever gear you have before you trade it. This way you have a baseline to compare from.

Well you have to understand the engine on the MPCs. They are powerful because they take what the ASR and all other sampling seqeuncers are missing. Anyone who has this machine can keep it for a long time. You can't upgrade from an MPC unless youre stuck on brand named equipment
I am saving up for an MPC but I want to get some tips before I make the purchase.

I'd disagree..the ASR has a more powerful sampling engine, chromatic shifts, LFO's, envelopes, and better filters. More memory isn't needed by everyone, and the only things the MPC has over the ASR is tighter pads, a bigger screen, and CF/USB. But once you know the ASR, it's a bomb.
But few people in hip hop would ever use half the features in the ASR.
