what are the audio tracks?

just picked up a 1000 last night. (had a 2000 for years but sold it last year and went all laptop, coming back to hardware)

im interested in the JJ OS, but i can't figure out what the audio tracks are.

can someone explain them to me?

i read the translated 4.65 manual on the JJ OS site, but it doesnt really explain what they are, just how to use them.

audio tracks are tracks that you just record directly into your mpc through your record input.. for example ; with this technique you can record some cuts direct on your sequence as a new track..

so then they don't have to be assigned to a pad?

like if i ran my microkorg into the 1000. (via audio not midi)
play a beat i recorded on track 1 that is lets say 8 bars long.

i could record an audio track into track 57 (or wherever they start) of me playing 8 bars of keys on the microkorg.

then whenever i play back that would play? instead of having to assign it to a pad then record the note on into the sequencer?

Take care, if you change the length of your sequence the audiotrack won´t play through the added part. I tried to set the sample to Loop on but it didn´t work, that´s not so cool ..

yeah, we got an 8 track recorder, basically.
it's got it's limitations, but still very usefull.
i've been meaning to take more advantage of audio tracks. so one day i'll have to work 8 tracks in a new project and let you hear it.

i totally understand it not changing length of you add bars too.

a midi/drum sequence on the mpc won't either, you'd have to copy bars to fill it out.

i suspect in the audio grid editor if you can copy/paste audio you might be able to fill out new bars in the audio tracks.

sounds useful, i'll just have to set it up so the ALT bus on my mixer is routed to the mpc ins that way anything we are playing can be recorded to an audio track really easily.

we use a lot of real instruments.
