Ive finally arrived in card reader world

Installed my card reader a few weeks back as per the installation guide someone posted on here (took all of 10 mins).

But had to wait a few weeks before i got a card. just got a 512 card yesterday.. brand new.. didnt even have to format it.. just put it in and started saving down all my projects from the zip.

Turned off the MPC and the Zip.. unplugged the zip (restrained myself from not throwing it across the room) and tested loading up all the stuff off the card reader.

All is sweet.. don't know why i took so long to convert over.

To anyone thinking about doing it.. do it.

i must be getting old.. i fell asleep at the MPC last night.. woke up with some pad impressions on my face.. just wanted to keep using the card reader.. im sure the facination will pass..

wow sounds cool. i got a 2000xl with the zip drive and i just recently bought a 500. the 500 has the compact flash and stores so much more. would be nice if my 2000 did that also. i would be able to use the same sounds huh? i saw a site that sold that multicard reader to install on the 2000 but forget where. how much did it cost? only reason i would still get discouraged is caus the ram is still small on the 2000xl (32mb) compared to the 500 (128mb)... its a big difference for sampling time and how many sounds u can load up.

i'd recommend formating on your pc in FAT/FAT16 format first, so your mpc and pc can both read your cf card

The only thing keeping me from installing a card reader in my 2k is that I already installed zip drives in all my computers as well.....

i feel you peter, i mean, i hav the zip and it does hold a lot, so would it be worth now for u to spend $150 (american dollars) to install. u would probably hav to do it for everything with a hard drive huh? then to change the memory to other memory cards is a pain, i did it and it took very long, the names of files kept shortening to only 8 letters, so i had to rename each file to keep it right. sooooo long

the installation for the 2k looks very daunting, all that soldering and shit, youd have to be pretty ballzy to di it. the XL is a breeze, ide is the easiet, and cheapest by far.

I did, but when i convert my Sandisk 2 GB CF Card in Fat under Windows, the MPC2000XL cant read it.
On the other Side, when i convert it in the MPC and put it in the Cardreader of my PC, it shows me Capazity of
only 600 something MB.

What the heck is goin on ?
Do i need a tool for Windows XP, so my Cardreader shows the right capazity on a CF that has been formatted in the MPC ?

PS: Can someone send me the link to a source, besides midicase, where i can find the MPC-Editor ?
I downloaded it, tried to order and all, but the links in the program didt respond.
Besides in the i-net i read that there exist higher Verions than the 3.0, that true?

Whats better in these Versions.
Where else can i buy the program ?

All media doesn't work with all mcd's.

Format your cards via fat/fat16 on pc and the mpc can read it.

MPC will only read the first 8 characters when you do that, so anything over 8 will be cut to 8, use "ckrename" (free) as a batch file renamer (I do).

I did it, and it's 50% having huge balls, and 50% being a huge nerd. Then it's all about showing your friends and having them looking at you with a confused and worried expression.

yeah i was well impressed just intalling the IDE in my XL. My flatmates didnt share my enthusiasm...

I just installed a card reader and installed it fine. When I insert my compact flash card the MPC recognizes it, shows the amount of memory (4G) but shows ? in the Type field and does not allow me to load files. So I formated it again on my PC (first time just plugged in the card) and it still does not work. So I decided to format it on the MPC but when I press DO IT, it just takes me back to the format screen. So I hit it again and it states "This Will Erase All File", I hit DO IT and it just takes me back to the format screen. Over, and over, and over....

Any suggestions?

I don't think the MPC can handle cards bigger than 2gig.. Do a search on these forums about it.. there has been plenty of talk about what the MPC can and cannot handle.

What OS are you running?

It seems the most reliable size card is a 512 or 1 gig.
