who here uses the 3k as the main gear??

im talking about Sampling, Chopping, Looping, the whole story.

cuz im still thinking of what MPC to get next and i really like the way the 3k is build.. but im not sure about is capabilities.

on 1-10 wat would u rank its

BTW do most of u just use MPC editor oru chop the drums of a record then save em for later use??

I've been using just the 3000(LE) and a turntable, so its my main gear. I do everything in the 3000. I Sample everything on it, chop everything on it, and of course loop and program all sequencing on it. I sample bass tones and program that in it to, and subbed bass tones on the 3000 sounds really good, and you can do a lot of cool stuff with the filter

I also "mix" in it, but if I'm gonna use the beats for a serious album I multitrack into a computer or such so i can get good eq's and such.

I used the MPC2000XL for many years, but am really happy with the 3000 now. Got hooked on the 3000 before I even got it, really fell in love with it the day I saw it, and lended all the money so I could get it. I Have now paid back the lended money, and it was def. worth the money.

I'm also looking foreward to install the new OS chip when i get money this summer.

I would rate sampling 10! The 3000 has great sound, and the low pass filter is dope. All drum samples sounds dope, and its easy to edit the drums with envelopes, attack, layers with subbed kicks etc.

Chopping is easy, but takes a little more time than on other MPs with graphic editing. I Still have NO problems with chopping, so I would maybe give that a 10 with the new OS. You'd get used to the chopping fast.

Loading is fast, but saving big files to ZIP takes a long time. Save a 15mb file to Zip, and you will know what I am talking about. I save all sounds I ever sample to computer via floppy's, I back up everytime.

I have only used the MPC PGM Maker to listen to samles so I can choose what drum sounds I would use for a beat and such. And to convert sounds from the samples I have backuped from the time I used the 2000XL.

And the 3000 is really good built! Solid! I'm not afraid of bangin on the pads. Its sturdy! And it looks good as well, its pretty!

I agree with what Deck Daddy says. You jsut have to get used to chopping on it.

..and, if the Vailixi OS is installed in an MPC3000. Chopping gets a whole lot quicker.

EDIT SND screen now features a TRUNC SFT ST+END function.

This allows samples either side of the SOFT START and SOFT END points to be deleted in a single button push.

EDIT SND Screen now features a COPY ZONE -> SND function.

This allows samples defined within an edit ZONE to be transformed directly into a new sound within memory from a single button push.

Define a ZONE start and end, COPY ZONE -> SND and a new SOUND will appear in memory.

The new SOUND created via this process will be auto named as "ZONE" with an incremental number appended for easy location within memory.
