Dell Pocket DJ 5GB HDD on MPC1000. works with iPod mini hdd

If you have a Dell Pocket DJ 5GB or smaller size, then you can use the hard drive because it is basically a CF card. All you have to do is take the Dell mp3 player apart, then you will see the CF card aka hard drive. Just unplug it from the device and take off the blue rubber lining. Now just put it in your MPC1000 card slot and your good to go to load samples. Note: you dont have to format it through windows when connected via usb to the mpc. instead if you are goin to add samples/sounds just press "mount" when you are under the usb tab on the mpc, then that way it will come up sayin mpc1000DISK [F:], instead of F: drive or whatever drive letter. Also, there is no 2GB drive limit on flash cards you insert.

lol, ya. then again if your mp3 player is not working or is damaged etc and you dont want to fix it then why not try it? mine was broken for like 1 year, and was taken apart just for curiosity. saved me about $100 for a new CF card.


The card that was in the Dell mp3 player was a 5GB Seagate ST1.

Thanks man for posting this. I happen to still have my broken Rio "Carbon" 5 gb mp3 player opened it up and pulled out a 5 gb Seagate Compact Flash Card. Once I formatted the CF card. It loads up smooth.

I thought any CF Flash card could work in the mpc?

there not CF cards... they are mini hard drives with moving parts... that we are talking about... they actually seem to work (seek) faster ... they just have the same pin set so you can use CF in ipod minis or those others ibet...

By the way "Shy Guy" are you talking about when I said there is no 2GB limit on the CF card you use? If so, then ya you can use any size/kind of CF card. The reason I mentioned is because on a couple of sites I have visited said that the MPC1000 had a 2GB limit for inserting CF cards. Some bull**** like that.
