If you have a Dell Pocket DJ 5GB or smaller size, then you can use the hard drive because it is basically a CF card. All you have to do is take the Dell mp3 player apart, then you will see the CF card aka hard drive. Just unplug it from the device and take off the blue rubber lining. Now just put it in your MPC1000 card slot and your good to go to load samples. Note: you dont have to format it through windows when connected via usb to the mpc. instead if you are goin to add samples/sounds just press "mount" when you are under the usb tab on the mpc, then that way it will come up sayin mpc1000DISK [F:], instead of F: drive or whatever drive letter. Also, there is no 2GB drive limit on flash cards you insert.
