JJ could you please give the mpc a higher resolution

It would be really great if JJ could give the mpc1000 a higher resolution then 96ppq. That is the only thing I am missing. For example, you play a nice bassline on your midi synth with some fast notes and let the mpc record the midi data. If you play it back from the mpc, it becomes stiff/static. The note flow is gone. Off course you could disable time correction which helps a bit, but then you have to play with a really steady hand and still the result is less.

The mpc4000 has a resolution of 960.

I have asked for this looong before. I don't know if it is possible especially at this point. I have found ways around it:

Note Shifting
Changing Time Sig - 16/16 or 32/32
Doubling Tempo and Bars

it would be great,....you could program in double time though...which would increase your resolution...it still would be a great addition if we could have a greater resolution like the 4000.

woah s**t, you can actually make a bass with that with a kick drum and a low pass filter and your note repeat set to 1/32

not gonna happen.
use double tempo
you have a resolution of 1/192 instead of 96

A friend of mine also just gave me the tip of double tempo. I will try it.

Dude, I find it hard to believe that you are playing a bassline so intricate that the res of the machine affects the timing. Are you sure you haven't just got TC set to 1/16?

I wouldn't mind better resolution, but it wouldn't help the way you think it would...

If you're just going to quantize things they are going to end up right on the 16th notes regardless of resolution. In fact the higher resolution should make that more accurate and hence 'stiffer'!
