ok so as some of you may know I'm normally the look for collections type a cat and just buy the lot....I dont come across them often but when I do I get itchy...

so I keep my eye on craigslist and every once in a while something pops up but I can tell it seems like they know what they are doing and are selling them for set prices etc.

well I have heard the sweet years to look for are the 70-80's but I came across this older guy and hes interesting as hell lol...He has a collection and is willing to let me actually look if I want and purchase he wants 3 bills and dammit hes dead set lol...he said he has 2 stacks of records that are about 3 feet tall and says that should be 3 hundred...i dont know if hes playing dumb or what lol...like in his mind he wants to charge a hundred a foot hahah...

any way my main question is he says theres many different genres etc. and most date back to the 40's but up to the 70's....I dont really want to drop 3 bills on junk but it seems there myte could be some gems scattered....

what would yall do...?? I mean stuff from the 40's and 50's I would guess bring some pretty obscure sh!t but is it like finding a needle in a hey stack just because of time/quality/equpment etc....or can I really find some sick goodies....

what you think? any tips or opinins??

It's always possible you will find gems. However, at $100 a stack where other people will probably sell it say....$10... is a little ridiculous.

at best you could hope to find maybe 4 gems in that few records right?

so take your $300 and get online or go to a record store that has good ish and knows what they have and spend your $300 and get some gems.

2 stacks at 3' tall sounds like sounds like about 6 crates to me.

most older people would give you the crate or two or however many they have just to be rid of them. or at least they would be crazy happy with $50 for "their old records they haven't listened to in 20 years".

Yea I agree with you 100%

but its just funny cause this old guy is madd interesting...it's like he knows he has some rare sh!t and doesnt really want to part with it but its like if he has 2 he wants to get a decent amount....

trust me most of my collection was GIVEN to me by old people that just wanted em out of the house or was willing to except pennies on the dollar...

it's not so much the cost because I know its heavy on price and I know I can go to record stores and get some for sure gems "for sampling" but ima hustla at heart cant help it...and I would imagine with a collection thats ALOT of 40's and 50's ish there could be some gems not for sampling but for flipping....then once I get a couple extra stacks of flipping I use the profits to keep my gem archive "for sampling" full...this way I never spend a bucks maybe even make a buck and can still feed the crave and keep a steady supply of fresh heat comin in and out the lab....

the thing that gets me is he says the condition is GREAT!! so I mean I could only imagine a buntch of records from the 40's in great condition otta be able to bring in something even on ebay or suntn.....

who knows....

are old records in great condition that easy to come by that they dont really hold much value??

its just the guys pretty old himself and says its a personal collection yadda yadda i myte just have to drive down there and see but its always good to get some fello diggaz opinions u kno....

what you have to do is see if he will let you look at them and pick a pile and you should be kool with that ,if you can pick out some real GEMMS you made out like a fat rat, and if you cant work that deal then buy PICK AND CHOOSE ,but dont pay more then a dollar per record, if it's real rare or in mint shape then a few bucks.

you just need to learn to haggle , most these people expect back what they paid for them, but it dont work that way,i dont know i buy music i like to playout so it's different for me i dig to play muisc out at partys then i dig for samples but most times it has to have one track on it that i can use in a mix somewhere.

e.d.e wuss good fam?...yea i mean my haggle game is rediculous both buying and selling....I could sell salt to a snail or ice to an eskimo thass just how I roll...and I guess thats why this collection has me kinda interested....because he wont budge a bit...I have came across collections from yardsale n sh!t where there like yea 2 bucks a record or a dollar each if you buy them all...there will be 100 records and ill manage to walk away with the whole collection for 10-15 bucks lol....

Im gonna go look and see how he acts in person V.S. over the phone....I like to stick to the dollar a record theory as well but I remember the last time I spent alot on a fairly small collection I killed it not for sampling but for value...I spent like 150 bucks for like 75 records....and there wasnt a whole lot of goodies for sampling but low and behold most of the records were bringin in 20+ each on ebay....I had one single spanish record that was bringin over $100 by itself.....needless to say I ended up being very happy that I copped the collection...when at first i was upset becuase wasnt to many goodies to sample but then again the records held value.....

wdupp mind control?

yea 300 is a bit heavy but like I said above it sometimes pays off....he has no problem with me looking at them....so I figured Im going to run down there and try and haggle in person I think hell be weaker that way then over the phone....I dunno if I see some gem mint condition records that date back I think I'll gamble and go with heart....hope for the best to find some gems and if not I charge it to the game....

Im going either tonight or tmrw afternoon so Ill keep u guys posted....try and get some pics up 2...

good look yall....
