Its a touchy subject but could someone plz help me! 4k ?

Ive searched the forums but have come across the answer to this question. What changed from the original 4K to make the 4K Plus. Is there any real difference. I'm thinking of getting the 4K plus. Accually im already sold on the 4k plus. Just wanna know what changed since i can't find any specs on the original 4k. Help plz!

Well, Akai added the digital I/O interface as standard & they also up'd the HD from 60 to 80 gigs. For a little extra or at one point, you could get different factory configs to fit your taste, ie: studio A, studio D & etc.

Thanks for the info. I was at first going to go with the 2500 but for $800 more the 4k just seemed like the better buy, even if i don't end up using all of the features on it.

I don't (utilize all of the 4k's features), as of yet. Maybe once I start doing live and studio work, I'll get involved with it. Just being honest.

Im not new to mpc use, just new to purchasing on of my own. Currently im using reason 3.0, sonar 6 producer edition, cubase sx, steinberg wave lab, korg legacy collection, korg triton extreme, and some other stuff which doesn't come to mind right now. but Dubmeister since you accually own a 4k. Can you let me know the in's and out's of what else i may need for that type of hardware set up. Also Im not really concerned with the learning curve of the 4k that i keep hearing about, because i kick learning curves in the ass, really. But what should i expect since im only familiar with the 2kxl.

Here's what I'm using http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=73175&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 Noticed I'm using midi sync/patchbays in my setup. Makes life a whole lot easier. As a matter of fact, the same can be said (knowing everything) about most of the gear in my studio. A lot of factors I can put the blame on for not knowing, but I know my gear well enough to do what I want it to do and that's all that matters.

Nice set up. Unfortunately i just found out that 4k's are on back order at GC. So for now im going to order the 4k and hope it doesnt take forever to get to me, and get a 2kxl from off of ebay to satisfy my hardware desires for now. Thanks for the help. And if you know of where i could get a 4k asap let me know.

I've seen several 4ooos on ebay as of late
both by private sellers and gear stores
GC may not be getting any soon because the 4ooo is not being made anymore
so I'd go with ebay
they have a regular 4ooo for $2,ooo
and a 4ooo+ for $2,5oo

Thanks for the info but i found probably the last new 4kplus in all of Philadelphia Saturday. Didn't really wanna go with ebay though, but would have as a last resort.

Ebay is fine if you deal with reputable users. I copped a 4k off ebay and had no issues. Just remember, if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Yeah, Thanx boomspot, I try to tell my wife the same thing about ebay all the time, she's got burnt on a couple of "too good to be true" deals.

Lovin the way it looks, LOL, but i haven't really gotten the time to mess with it yet.
