How does a product brochure, that doesn't even show the 2500, equate to a new OS?

No one is probably checking for the Akai OS 2.11, since JJ came out. Here's the Software Release Notes for Version 2.11 for the MPC 1000

Version: 2.11 for the MPC 1000
Date: 5/1/07
New features/Changes:
1. Increased maximum number of programs from 24 to 128.
2. Changed default when saving entire memory for “Replace same files” to YES.
3. Improved error messages.
4. Additional support for manufacturing.
Bug fixes:
1. Fixed bug where .wav files were saved with an incorrect size within its file format.

The Akai 2500 OS is COMING!!!!!!!!!!! You heard it from me first.

Most of us saw it but it's like the ugly chic getting her hair done, doesn't really make a difference.
All that time between the 2 releases and that's all they gave...WOW.
Akai needs to stabilize their production, marketing and support.
We the customer have been stranded far to long on the island with no boat.
At least the 1k and 2500 had JJ teach us to hunt so we could survive.
Me personally, I would love if Akai could give us a debugged functional OS that didn't corurpt files, MTC was properly functioning again like in the earlier release, fixed the non-functional tempo detect so it could detect bars not transients, gave better numerical scrolling in the trim screen and maybe added some new features.
But since that's not the case I would have to be crazy not to use v5 to get more out on my machine.
We may be at the point already where a new OS from Akai still won't matter.
The only real reason Akai would be coming out with a new OS would be to corrupt your flash ROM and kill your JJ password.

^^^ Sounds about right. I was also confused as to where on the website and the brochure a new OS for the 2500 was coming out. Nonetheless if they will follow the same path as the 1000's improvements then thats just a joke. In that case they might as well give up on updating the OS for 2500 and hand over all duties and support for JJ.

But we will just have to wait and see what they actually have in store for the 2500.

does it really make a difference? come august it will have been a year since the last official O.S. update. If anything numark akai never had their priorites straight to begin with.

You'll find better customer service here at mpc forums than with akai.

The Akai OS is that bad, it's just certain known issues weren't dealt with and a few things gotten broken in 1.22 that worked in 1.21.
They could have easily resolved those issues.
Yes it would be nice if they could have made some of the improvements that JJ did but fixing the problems is where the frustration began.
So all this time goes by and all we have to show for it is the cute new toys (MPC-500 and MPK-49).
No new replacement for the 4k yet and false claims that the 4k hasn't been discontinued even though Akai Japan announced that it was.
So what has them so busy they couldn't fix a few problems in the 2500 OS?
So even if JJ is a former programmer gone to the dark side he became the only choice for many because some of the issues of 1.22 can shut you down.
If you own any of the newer Numark gear you will see that the parent company that owns both Numark and Akai are running both companies in a very similar way.
I guess only time will tell if Akai can make it back to the playoffs again.

^^ y'know I don't have that many qualms about 1.22 but Its just...um depressing to see a company like akai being run into the ground
