Can you zone-chop to stereo with full JJ O.S ?
you know, like on 2000XL for example, where you can chop any sample to 16/8 or whatever stereo pieces...automatically creating a program with your chops.. nice and ready.
Tried to search this issue, but could not really find anything conrete.

thanks.

Would you be able to chop your sample into say..64 stereo pieces and automatically create a new program ( with the chops) ?

no assigning , no bla bla ?

I am working on 3.06 and the only trick I can use is extracting phrases but that is kind of lame IMO.

on 2k XL it is a breeze to auto chop something.

I was hoping that JJ 4.6X would do the job like 2K did in terms fast chopping.

If JJ 4.6 can do that I AM SOLD.
Should I break my piggy bank now?

i only used JJ OS for the first time last night but it seems like maybe you weren't to the right screen yet.

its something like trim mode -> chop -> slice -> convert

then you can have your slices (8 or 16 or whatever) sliced to new samples and it will create a new pgm for you.

the stuff i was doing last night only needed 8 and 16 slices, but i am pretty sure it will do 64.

get on the right screen and change the number of slices and you will know for sure.

JJ os can do that.. go to trim, press chop, assign your chop start and end points..

if your regions and chops are good you pres F6 (edit)

no mine are mono, i was answering your question though as from everything i have read the JJ OS paid version can chop stereo.

it sounded like you were asking if it could do the rest of it, not simply if the result would be in stereo.

thank you lads.
yeah I need stereo.

so to simplify :

I sample 2 minutes of James Brown > go to slice > select how many pieces I need ( no start , no end points..just random 64 slices) > press do it = the result is a newly created program with 64 slices in stereo already assigned to pads and ready to rock ??

its all in stereo. u can choose to convert it just to L or R, or mono, but by default its in stereo. u can chop into however many pieces u like. just the 'ol akai os that wouldnt chop in stereo. put it this way, anything u think u mpc should do, it basically does with the jjos. buy the latest update. i assure u will hav exactly wat u want from ur mpc. the free os 3.06 is lacking lots of stuff. there is a manual on the net on jj's site (the site where u would hav downloaded the os from) which will def confirm if ur version chops in stereo. from my memery chopping in stereo was one of the first features to b implemented. so i would say it does chop in stereo. the best way is to chop something in stereo and find out urself.

craazy:
just installed the 4.66 version.
chops just like my old trusted 2000XL ..:)
lovin it.

As I said..I am on 4.66 at the moment..probably it is nothing , but when I play more than 2 stereo samples from the same program they sort of cancel each other out, or the second takes priority over the first.

I am sure it is a setting issue.. anyone?
I should get goin with the manual with more detail probably..I went through it fast and no info there.

thanks

You need to change the poly/mono settings mode+ pad 11.

Yeah, I've had that and I wasn't too sure what the deal was. I assume you are talking about this happening to samples when you've used slice to cut up something like a break beat. What I've done as a work around is save the program (with samples) to the hard drive, and then reload the program and samples (you may need to power off and on). It works fine after that. I have no idea why that happens though. I don't think it's a mono/poly setting.

in program mode a chopped sample is automatically set to MONO instead of POLY
