Or format the 4 gig card on os 1.14 an make 4 1 gig partitions, get a small card (that you format FAT16 on your PC) to do transfers between the mpc and the pc.

Yeah, I have updated the OS and formatted in FAT/FAT 16. Some one on this forum stated they were able to get 4GB card to work which is why I got one. I will try a smaller card. Thanks for the input. It might be the brand also.

My MP doesn't recognize my card reader; 'ATAPI' never shows up in the Device field. I followed the instructions- I don't know what the deal is. What I DO know is that I'm sick of floppies...

Hey everyone,

I got myself a 2000XL a couple of months ago, but I bought it pretty bear bones: no memory, no samples, and only one OS (which is fine, i guess). I knew I had to find a way around the floppy drive, so I looked into alterntives and found out about the Card Reader from Amtron. I got really busy for a few months and didn't have time to purchase or think about this stuff, and now I see that the freaking drive is discontinued???!!!!!

Does ANYONE know where I can purchase one???

Thanks a lot for the site, man. Apparently the model you have is discontinued as well, but they also have an "IDE PC Card Reader (Model IIC)."

It says it's compatible with MPC's. Anyone know if this is legit?

geez i was lucky then.. only got mine a month or so ago.. glad i got in when i did.. must have got ones of the last..

Well if the "IIC" works, it only has a Compact Flash slot, but it sounds like CF cards are the only ones that work for MPC's anyways. Good stuff

i also asked psi if the new reader will work. they said the manufacturer claims it works. so its not clear about if it will work or not.

think you gotta make sure the jumper is in the right position at the back of the drive.. it's a little plastic cap covering two pins..
