My first time browsing through this thread. Very informative. I really like the way the pad design flaw was explained on NYM's website. The videos were VERY good too. Made me feel confident I could do it myself... however, the one important piece that NYM forgot to (or maybe just didn't want to) include was a demonstration of the new pads in action.
Without seeing that, I am not highly motivated to buy. I have a feeling I'm not alone on that either.
I am sure that for the most part, we bellieve everything that NYM claims about his new pad design, however, seeing is totally believing.
I've had my MPC since 2005. I haven't had a pad break yet, but I think that has to do with me moreso than the machine. I use full level and then 16 levels for different volocities. So I don't "bang" my pads at all. Seems to work fine for me and I also prefer using it that way... however, I am sure if my pads ever do break, I'll be f-cking FURIOUS! So I applaud all the research and hard work NYM has done.
Looking at his "install" videos was really cool. Sold me 80% on his design.
Once I see them in action, that could possibly pursuade me (a person who doesn't even have broken pads) to send him some money and make the switch.
And on that note, I'd like to end with saying "YES!" Akai, I'd also like to see an improved pad design. Give us a design just like the 2500, etc... and finally do away with this barely glued together INDIVIDUAL POS design!
