old MTPs are cheap!

Excuse me but what is this?
Anyway i don't want to take one more item into live setup.

oh, i see your problem. but then the way you use your gear is rather unusual really... not sure if a 1k is the best choice here.

well if JJ can add a midi filter, then good for you (although i don't see many people using that and it would be a waste of code space + cpu if you ask me).

just a thought.

in the mpc set "Active track receive channel" to anything except "all".

then in the nord there might be a way to have your pitch bend sent on a different midi channel than your sequences and mpc.

maybe also ask on a nord modular forum. i reckon other nord owner must have had the same problem with other gear.

If the nord doesn't have an output filter for pitch bend I would tend to think it's unlikely that it would have a control to send it on a different channel than all it's other midi messages. In fact, I have never heard of a synth or controller with such a feature.

I do agree though that this is a rather nonstandard use of the 1000 and it sounds like a straight-up midi sampler would be more appropriate. Usually they have filters for everything.

An MTP is a MOTU midi timepiece. The old versions are cheap because the legacy ports won't allow them to be connected directly to modern computers (only through the network jack on a new MTP), but they function just fine as routable/mutable midi patch bays. However, if you are only running the nord and MPC something simpler would do, like one of the small inline black box items such as those made by Midi Solutions.

Right! There is no way to route pitch bend to other channel.

Can you suggest such a sampler? Never heard about it.

Yeah, I have some Midi solutions items here and already thought about some kind of custom build filter.

you discard my suggestion without even trying ?? :)

set mpc to receive on channel 1.
there are 4 slots in the nord. saying 1 slot on channel 1 for sequences for the mpc, the 3 other slots on channel 2, 3 and 4 for nord internal sounds.
set mpc to receive on channel 1.
then tweak the pitch bend for the sounds on channel 2, 3 and 4, it would not send pitch bend on channel 1.
do you get the general idea ?

or maybe also by setting the global channel not to "ALL"

thanks a lot - it worked! :-) there are some limitations - now i can't use morphs in slot A of my Nord but anyway its a nice workaround.

Glad you got the workaround up and running. I don't own any Clavia gear so I couldn't get too specific in that area.

Well, back in the not so old days before most computers were good enough, rack mounted midi samplers were the rule and not the exception they are today. They typically did not have sophisticated built-in sequencers like the MPC (which apparently you don't need if you're using the nord to seq) but often much more in the area of sound manipulation and midi input control. All the major manufacturers made them: Akai, Emu, Roland etc. Just check used listings and the available online manuals to find the features you want.
