Mo' Phat purchase

I am considering buying a Emu Mo' Phat module. I've tested it somewhat at Guitar Center and liked what I heard so far. Would present owners purchase it again if they got a chance or go with another sound module?

I called Emu to find out if they had any Mo' Phat Rom cards in stock yesterday and they sold out. Emu will no longer be making the Mo' Phat Rom cards.

I was going to cop the vintage keys module and buy the Mo' Phat Rom for it but before doing so decided to give Emu a call about the availability of the Mo' Phat Rom. Thank God I called.


Do you not like the sounds on the Mo' Phat?

I like most of them, but I prefer having more of a range with my 2K. I am going to cop a card off ebay and there are several sites that still sell them contrary to Emu. Emu is ok, but they can be lame at times.

I just cop Reason a fews days ago. I saw that they have the Mo' Phat soundfonts available. Are the soundfonts anything similar to the actual module. I have yet to install Reason also. I want to use it as a module.

Stick wit Reason - Reason plus the 1000 is pretty ill

I have the mophatt soundfonts. The sounds are exactly the same as the module, but about 15% of the presets are missing i think.
I've found that you can do more with it than the module though, cause you can filter and stuff as well.

I found the mo' phat / planet phat un-inspiring. Sort of like canned hip-hop. This is not a dis to those who use it. Just my humble opinion.

Yea ieism hit me off wit the Planet Phatt Soundfont... I was gettin mad creative... more than I ever was doin wit the actualy sound module... I popped that sh*t in FruityLoops just to lay out some lines... Added some filters and effects and sh*t... I actually produced some hot sh*t from it... I'm not super crazy about the sounds though... I'd go with the Planet Phatt Rom or the soundfonts... Definitely the better buy.

The presets are ok but you can make some sick sounds yourself if you learn how to layer, filter, etc. It has the raw materials you need to get you rsound but you gotta tweak it.
